    Can I use one of the American Dream Photos to paint ? My teachers are aware i got it off the internet , but It inspired me to paint the picture of the soldier and woman embracing ! Please !???? no copyright legalities ??? email back 🙂 THANKS , Brit’

    Sally: I am also a great grandchild of “Dr. Posner.” My grandfather was Jacob, my father Daniel. I recall ordering ‘Flying Aces’ shoes from a catalog when I was a kid … they would show up a few weeks later via the big brown UPS truck. This was in the mid 1960s.

    Would you please give me a call or send me a note via emai? My son, Richard, is doing some research on the Dr. Posner shoe company … looks like you may have more than the meager documents I have at hand. (I recall finding more at my mother’s house in Flushing, NY but she’s not able to get into the basement to look). Thanks. Here’s my contact:

      Glad you enjoyed the images. I regularly supply vintage images to various publishers for a small one time fee of $100 payable to my Paypal account. If you are interested, I can send you an invoice and upon receipt of payment I will send you a hi resolution jpeg of the image. You mentioned the image you were interested in was from Selling Suburbia, did you mean the post Suburbia for Sale?

    Sally, if interested, I have been posting a collection of letters to a family blog (www.annbkennedy.blogspot.com), each written by my mother to my grandmother over about 40 years, beginning in 1941. They certainly represent a first hand accounting of the life of at least one American housewife. I am enjoying your blog, and what a great resource it is! Many thanks.

    Sally, I’m writing an essay on the Pledge of Allegiance. I don’t charge for my blog, by the way. In the content there is a section that addresses the addition of “under God” to the original pledge, and how Eisenhour felt it was an appropriate addition given the climate between the US and the USSR, pre-Cold War. One image in particular speaks to the prevailing attitude during that time. Its url is envisioningtheamericandream.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/american-soviet-propaganda.jpg.     My name is Alex and I stumbled upon your site while looking at some old ads because I absolutely adore the vintage art style. I found the image ‘At Home with the Nuclear Family’ which features a family at home, with slides of a nuclear explosion impacting a house next to it.     Hello! I am a high-schooler who competes in public speaking through NCFCA (National Christian Forensics and Communications Association.) My speech is about the history of ice cream, and I’m making boards to illustrate my topic. One of my points is about ice cream during World War II, and with your permission, would it possible to use the first picture of the 1944 WW2 Homefront on your blog to demonstrate my speech? I will only be using the photo for a season.

    NCFCA requires any pictures that are from sources to give all the credit to the source and link their website under the picture. I completely understand if I’m not allowed to use the picture. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Secondly, I’d love to use the old b&w photo of the anxious-looking woman (the one of just her eyes, with her hands clasping the side of her face) in a book I’m working on. I was wondering whether you would know anything about its origins, and in particular, whether it is still under copyright. And if it is, who might own it.       I would have to know exactly the image as there re several B&W anxious women. It is likely an old vintage Anacin ad.
