Travels With My Dog

On the Road with Mo

As my new Louisiana Lab known as Mo, moseys his way up north in a 48-foot Reefer Trailer he is unintentionally taking my long-imagined “Break the Blue Bubble” tour I had thought to take this spring. Stuck in my blue bubble echo chamber, I wanted to break out and travel through the small towns of red states to try to connect in a color-blind way.

After a tearful goodbye, his foster Mama packed him a hearty lunch and put him on the truck at 4am today  in dark of night, as he fled the south to the safety of the north.

Mighty Mutts and Mo

His lengthy Mighty Mutt truck itinerary provides plenty of local color including stops today in Malvern, Arkansas, a town that claims to be the brick capital of the world, and doggone it he just missed their annual “Brickfest” that includes events such as the famous “Best Dressed Brick Contest.”

Then he’s on to Woldersville, Tennessee, where the truck stops for dog drop-offs at Patty’s Restaurant famous for their all-you-can-eat fried chicken, hand-breaded catfish, and homemade pies.

Hint to Mo- you might want to chow down on their famous smoked ham hocks- You’ll be living with Jews now, and not likely to be eating high on the hog any time soon.

Speaking of which, Mo makes a stop in Clearbrook Virginia a tiny farming community that is the site for the Hogging Up BBQ & Music Festival.

Hee Haw!

Aww thanks. His good looks are matched by what I see as a huge loving heart.

He looks like a dog I knew long ago whom I nicknamed ‘the cutest buddhist’ since she and her human mother were in my little weekly buddhist bookstudy class, and another even longer ago who was also great. I haven’t met any bad dogs of this type ever and suspect I never will

There are no bad dogs. Just bad people. He is characterized by his foster Mom and others who met him as very soulful and loving deeply.Curiously a friend on FB asked after seeing his picture whether he was a Pisces or some other sign? I generally don’t follow astrology much but knowing his birthday I saw he was indeed a Pisces. So peaking my interest I looked up dog zodiac signs and it said “The Pisces Personality- compassionate canines. They are compassionate and empathic and real wisdom seems to lurk behind their big soulful eyes.” I was amazed. This was nearly identical to the descriptions his foster Mom used about him,

Huh. Even though I am psychic and a medium and all that kind of stuff, I am not so much into astrology but it keeps working, so there might well be something to it like in this and like when all kinds of machines fail during mercury retrograde etc. Plenty stuff in the worlds, Horatio, as they used to say more eloquently–

I too am not “into” astrology at all, but every once in a while there are indisputable facts or situations, so who knows?

It sounds like Mo is having quite a trip home! If only he knew how excited his mom was waiting for him to arrive!

Its really a big journey. Naturally being a helicopter Mom, I researched every town he would be going to so I could envision him there. There are 28 stops in total, which is a whole lot. I did communicate with his foster Mom today to make sure he got on all right and everything was good and she said he handled as expected, like a champ. This is such a new experience for me too and I’m savoring every element of it. Tonight he stops at Texarkana at 10:30, which is about half an hour where sweet Stanley was born so I know his spirit will join him there.

        Oh, how beautiful!
28 stops, wow, I know Mo is a trooper, but he’ll be so happy when he’s finally in his forever home. It will be more of a reunion than a greeting on both sides. He has so much to look forward to, that lucky boy!
