In Galatians 6:17 St. Paul says :
“From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear on my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.”
Does Saint Donald bear the stigmata? Are these the marks of Jesus, or the marks of a con man?
On Tuesday Donald Trump appeared with very visible red marks on his hands leading to meet face to face with his accuser E. Jean Carroll in the courtroom.
Are these mysterious marks merely magic markers or mysticism?
Theories abound. While some suggest the mysterious wounds are a result of the toddler-like pounding of his fists on the courtroom table and some speculate syphilis, I see it as a clear dog whistle to his white Christian base solidifying his self-proclaimed role as a persecuted martyr.
I am suffering for you. Saint Donald bears the stigmata, the bloody wounds and scars that appear in locations corresponding to the crucifixion wounds of Christ.
Stigmatized as a rapist, is it any surprise he would spin it into the stigmata?
Martyr Man
On Tuesday, Trump said that his accuser had gained fame and money through “fabricated lies and political shenanigans” in the case.
“I am the only one injured by this attempted EXTORTION,” he wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
What is important is that the marks are recognized by others as of religious significance.
Trump embodies the us-vs.-them mentality of the White Christian Nationalist’s battle between the godly and the satanic and uses it, along with his savior status, to his full advantage in falsely portraying his criminal prosecutions as the work of an evil, corrupt political system.
For a base that has heard for decades that Christians are persecuted by secularists and that conservatives are under siege by out-of-control liberalism, Trump embodies their resentments.
There is always a method to his madness, and there are no bloody accidents in Trump’s world.
Stigmatic or Stunt-your call.

Hand-foot-and-mouth disease, a form of eczema. Most likely. If anyone cares about the likely facts. Personally I’m as fatigued by superficial Don ridicule (and ridiculing, also, of Christian Conservative whitenationalists) as I am by superficial Don. Cartoony coverage is easy – and implied stereotypes among the really quite diverse pool of misanthropic antidemocracy crowd, while the easiest target among the Trumpies, are not the majority of them, scarily enough. It feels self-perpetuating, like minstrelsy, to paint them all as hillbillies finding clues to their salvation in potatochip jesuses and suchlike. I don’t care about his ad hominem whataboutist grievance-screeds but, until I see something like accountability for specific crimes like the libel or dareIsay a refutation of criminal charges as opposed to claims of entitlement to commit said crimes, I guess this is the level of discussion we get until then. All that said, I do enjoy being amused and enlightened. Nice Giotto pic.
