Mammy was universally loved and respected. In many ways she was the glue that held the household together during very trying times. I don’t see how it’s racist to keep use her image in a non-demeaning way.

Its a complicated image loaded with layers of meaning. Though Mammy was often a beloved family member, she was not there by choice, enslaved.
