Trump, Lincoln and The Art of the Deal

Donald Trumps Book The Art of The Deal and Abe Lincoln reading

If only Abe Lincoln had availed himself of Trump’s “The Art of the Deal”, the civil war could have been ” worked out.”

I mean had Andrew Jackson been a little later you wouldn’t have had the Civil War. He was a very tough person but he had a big heart. He was really angry that he saw what was happening with regard to the Civil War, he said “There’s no reason for this.”
People don’t realize, you know, the Civil War, if you think about it, why? People don’t ask that question, but why was there the Civil War? Why could that one not have been worked out?” President Donald Trump

Stop the presses!

Could Andrew Jackson have saved the Civil War as President Donald Trump suggests?

Given the fact that Ol’ Hickory died a good 16 years before the outbreak of the war seems irrelevant to our revisionist historian in chief. In fact in Trump’s bizarro world of history time travel he seems to imply that his 1987 best selling book “The Art of the Deal” could have prevented that carnage.

Who’d a thunk it? That messy civil war with its pesky problem of slavery could have been worked out if only there had been a real negotiator there instead  of that loser Lincoln whose nose was always buried in a book.

Oh, if only honest Abe could have availed himself of that  classic Trump tome,  the war resulting in the deaths of 620,000 men could have been avoided all together.

A young Abe Lincoln loved to read.

It is doubtful little Donnie ever cracked open an American history book in grade school. Because like every other American school child  he would have  learned not only why there was a civil war, but also that Abraham  Lincoln loved books. He loved to read. He would walk miles to borrow a book.

After this recent  rant from our current president, one wonders what books are Donald Trump reading, or likely not reading. Perhaps he should take a page from Lincoln and crack one open.

There is a reason there are Trump casinos, hotels, resorts, neckties, steak of the month clubs, universities, and many other Trump-branded enterprises… but no Trump Publishing Company. Books are for losers. A HUGE waste of time.

  3. Hmmmmm. I don’t know what to say. It sounds strange. And, he makes a HUGE target. But, at the moment, I don’t get why the South started the Civil War. With Dred Scott and other cases, they were winning in court.

  4. And just think we wouldn’t have had the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment. All them slaves would have had jobs working on the plantation.

On another, I always find it interesting that those legal minds like Justice Scalia and Justice Thomas have an originalist interpretation of the Constitution. Does that mean they believe we should still have slavery in these United States?

  5. You picked a good one. I first read about his comment in a Facebook forum. As I read the comments by people justifying it my head began to twitch. I said to myself: “self just because you read hundreds of books about the US Civil War remember you’re a Canadian…” Then I went for a walk with head still twitching.

Look, before you yell “LIBTARD!” it’s not even the fact that Trump’s a “Republican.” (I have my doubts about his political party–if anything, I’d call him a Trumpublican. The party of all for Trump, all the time.) He is unfit. PERIOD. If he were running as a Democrat (which he’s also claimed he was.) I’d say the same thing, but we wouldn’t be having this conversation because I don’t think they’d elect a Democrat as incompetent as Trump. A lech? Sure, we’ve had those, but not an obviously incompetent knucklehead as Trumpy, the 4th Stooge.

  7. Having read the book team of rivals by Doris. I have nothing but respect to President Abe Lincoln. His conduct through the civil war was outstanding and super naturally guided. His well thought unifying speeches brought the union together. President Trump should read more & talk less.
