America is so fearful of being woke, that our country is not just going back in time, we are going back to sleep.

And for way too many it is a nightmare.

Sherman and Mr. Peabody and the Wayback Machine

In just this past week thanks to the Supreme Court, it is as though we collectively all stepped into the Wayback machine from Peabody’s Improbable History, taking us back to the darker eras of our history when everyone knew their place.

A time when “no coloreds allowed,” “Irish need not apply”, “No Jews Welcome Here,” and LGBTQ stayed in the closet where they belonged. A time when as Archie Bunker pined for, “men were men and girls were girls.”

That exclusionary time when America was great.

For some. Never for all.

There feels little to celebrate this July fourth.

Nothing says Independence Day more than being stripped of our freedoms and freeing ourselves from the tyranny of truth and justice.
