Trump’s Wolf call- Wake Up Sheep!

While solemn Jews were attending concluding services for Rosh Hashanah, uplifted by the ritual of the ancient blowing of the shofar ( a rams horn) that connects us to our souls,  Donald Trump took to Truth Social to wish the Jews  L’ Shana Tovah-a happy and healthy New Year.

Perhaps in an alternative universe.

No, the truth is this great friend of the Jews threatened us, taking this opportunity on a holy day to attack Jews who didn’t support him.

In a chilling post on social media, he pointed his stubby finger to the “liberal Jew” who had “voted to destroy America.”

When backlash to the post was swift he quickly removed the “liberal  Jew” portion of his rant but the despicable parts remained.

Referring to Jews as sheep, he refuted being anti-Semitic listing all he did for the Jewish people.

Blowing of the Trumpets or Trumpers

Rosh Hashanah literally means “head of the year”—the new year. But biblically it’s much more than that. In the book of Leviticus in Hebrew, it’s called Yom Hateruah—the day of the blowing of trumpets or ram’s horn (shofar)—the judgment day. The piercing blast of the shofar is meant to remind the hearer to repent for his sins and make things right with his brothers and sisters.

Trump took this as an ugly opportunity to be a blowhard

This was no subtle dog whistle to anti-Semites it was as loud and piercing as the shofars blasting in synagogues across our country. And the hate just as ancient.

At an alarming time of rising antisemitism in our country, this was not free speech, this was not just crying fire in a crowded theatre. This throwing gasoline on it.

No Mr. Trump we may be moved by the sounds of a ram’s horn, but we are no sheep.

You don’t fool us. You are the wolf in very cheap sheep’s clothing.

It’s sad to know that Donald Trump recognizing the growing Anti Semitism in this country (which he in truth helped to exacerbate) chose Rosh Hashanah to further incite that prejudice. Sad because he has an audience of like minded people. He has the audacity (chutzpah is too kind a word) to “warn the liberal Jews..” likening a discussion about Israel’s internal affairs to being unpatriotic to America That’s not the case at all. It is a passion for democracy in Israel and America that is at the truth of the discussion.. And while Trump may realize that, he will twist the truth to his political advantage. Twisting the truth is something he does rather well.
