When it comes to medical acronyms, I struggle with a few – PTSD, DID, CFS, and occasionally a touch o’ OCD.

But one syndrome I absolutely do NOT have is TDS- Trump Derangement Syndrome.

His MAGA supporters and sycophants love to lob that term at the “libs” as an indication of Trump-induced hysteria about their dear leader, likening it to signs of psychic pathology. It is a derogatory term used to describe what they think is a toxic criticism and negative reaction to Donald Trump’s statements and actions.

TDS may not be listed in the DSM-5 (The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Illness) but The Urban Dictionary offers up  this definition: “Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is a mental condition in which a person has been driven effectively insane due to their dislike of Donald Trump, to the point at which they will abandon all logic and reason.”

Pretty ironic because to support Trump, followers are asked to leave their logic and reason at the door.

Outraged reactions to Trump are in fact a sign of sanity and mental health. It is an indication of a moral center, a love of country, decency, and democracy.

TBS

Truthfully, I think MAGA-ites suffer from TBS – Trump Blindness Syndrome.

In the first stage of the disease, victims lose all sense of proportion.

The mid-level stages of TBS have a profound effect on the victim’s vocabulary: Sufferers speak a distinctive language consisting solely of hyperbole.”

As TBS progresses, the afflicted lose the ability to distinguish fantasy from reality.”

So while I struggle with other maladies, I do  suffer from TDS

When it comes to Trump I can see clearly.

He is deranged.

And he is dangerous.
