Newspapers used to be loaded with advertisements, but for a while now, ad dollars have been fleeing the news. There were very few ads in Wednesday’s New York Times, but one full-page ad jumped out at me.
It was a call for action for The No Kings March on October 18th.
It is asking the reader to peacefully protest our False King.
The words are powerful:
He has declared war on our constitution, our rule of law, and our federal courts
He has sought absolute, unchecked power.
He has proclaimed the free press to be the “enemy of the people.”
He has invented false emergencies to seize powers that he does not have.
He has unleashed the military in our cities without our consent.
Je has sent masked and unidentified men to abduct us.
He has undermined vaccines and dismantled the agencies that protect us from plagues, putting American lives at risk.
He has abused the power of the presidency to attack and prosecute opponents.
He has attempted to stifle our speech and silence our dissent
He has exploited his office to enrich himself, his family, and his friends.
The ad was paid for by a nonprofit organization called Home of the Brave. They are a community of Americans who refuse to be silenced. Their site invites you to share your story if you have been hurt by the Trump Administration
“The first step in fighting back is speaking out. If you’ve been harmed by Trump and his policies, we want you to tell your story.”
I plan on marching in New York City on October 18th and hope you can find a march near you.
I hope these words move you to act.

Stay safe – there will probably be all kinds of crazies out there.

I’m not really anticipating that. The March I BBC went to in June in the city was completely peaceful. But I will have my eyes open. I’ve no doubt that there will be plants to agitate in some paradesz
