This Thanksgiving Not Everyone is Thankful

Sometimes, vintage comic books resonate very clearly for the present.

Often for inspiration, I rifle through cardboard boxes of old periodicals and comic books that line my basement shelves.

This afternoon, I came across two disparate vintage comic books. One is a classic Harvey Comics, and the other is a panel from a Love and Romance issue.

When juxtaposed together, they seemed to perfectly express exactly where we are right now.   This Thanksgiving, two Americas are sitting down at the table as the wealth inequality has never felt starker.

While the super-rich get richer every day, seemingly breathing rarified air, others can barely breathe, struggling to cover the basics of daily living.

For too many Americans, there may not be a lot to be thankful for.

You always find a way to make a point simply by pointing to our cultural history. Vividly. It’s all there, the good, the bad and the ugly. You make it resonate for us today.
