Who Honored Martin Luther King Jr.’s Memory Best?

Celebrating MLK Day 2020 Democrats, Pro Gun advocates Rally

When it comes to honoring Dr. King on MLK Day, compare and contrast.

While the top Democratic presidential contenders celebrated Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy in a show of unity linking arm and arm with each other and civil rights leaders in an MLK Day march in South Carolina, gun right advocates came locked and loaded at a pro-gun rally in Richmond in fear that their beloved Second Amendment rights will be snatched right out from under them.

Democrats, we’re, looking at you!

While these presidential hopefuls gathered peacefully in solidarity, a former president, Barack Obama, honored the slain civil rights leader for “his moral clarity.”

Meanwhile, our current President, not known for his moral clarity and who likened himself to MLK today, quickly broke a pledge to “pause to honor the incredible life and accomplishments of Martin Luther King Jr” by accusing the Democrats of trying to take people’s guns away, tweeting a politically charged tweet supporting those thousands of pro-gun activists at the Virginia Rally.

“The Democratic Party in the Great Commonwealth of Virginia are working hard to take away your Second Amendment Rights. This is just the beginning. Don’t let this happen. Vote Republican in 2020,” Trump said.

On this day when we remember the legacy of Dr. King, we may all choose to celebrate in our own ways. But holding a pro-gun rally on the very day we honor a man who was gun downed by a racist is just unseemly.

In a way Trump is right. If he is elected, this is only the beginning. Unrestricted guns for all- we must not let this happen.
