All that Glitters is Not Gold

All that glitters is not gold.

There is nothing golden about any of this White House makeover.

Whether it is 24k gold gilding, “the best you can get,” as Trump boasts or Home Depot BEHR Harvest Gold paint, the effect is exactly the same.

It is a power grab.

It’s a runaway exploding ego wrapped in hubris, willful historical ignorance dipped in tacky bad taste. All this garish gold has tarnished the meaning of this sacred room.

It’s a full on gold coating on a restrained federal room.

The Oval Office is a federal style that represents a citizens’ republic. The new interior is a Sultans’palace.

A Caesars Palace.

America does not do palaces.

We may have Golden Arches and Golden Corrals, but we don’t do Golden White Houses.

It pushes the presidency visually from a temporary office holder to a throned ruler in a state room.

The doorway is now an arch of power. His very own Golden Arches. It’s cosplay antiquity to elevate the room into a pseudo palace worthy of a Russian czar or a Saudi Prince.

Trump confirms it’s real gold.  As real as the Mar-a Lago lips that walk through that golden arch to kiss his gold-plated ass.

Wow, you really said it all. This one should be a New York Times op ed. The last sentence was quite a punch!

Well done! This reminds me of a party host who wears cologne that makes everyone in the room practically pass out…and then brags to every guest about how exclusive and expensive it is, and what celebrity uses it.

This goes beyond Trump’s vulgar decorating taste. It is a sign of deep insecurity. He continues to try to convince the world he’s not a failed real estate developer from Queens, the founder of Trump University, Trump Steaks and marketer of cheap imported whatever.

Maybe it is real gold. It doesn’t matter if it is, it looks tacky as hell. I keep wondering how the next president is going to find the time to change it all back while they’re actually running the country instead of playing house. I also think on Day One the next president should change the photo of Biden to an actual photo of Biden. Trump is so petty and stupid.

Assuming we have a next president, I am certain they will tear all this down and if it is gold ( highly doubtful) it will be melted and the money put to good use. Trump has treated the presidency like an episode of Fixer Upper and focused more on decorating than feeding the hungry.

Agree with all the above. I have a change to go to LA in January, but I won’t be doing it. Going to keep my Canadian butt in Canada until the regime changes. And I mean REGIME.
