  4. My favorite team, too! The Brooklyn Dodgers was the one I followed as a little guy, and I was very disappointed when they moved to California. What betrayal of the fans! At least they got the times right with putting Jackie Robinson on the team.

    • As a young bobby-soxer, my Brooklyn born mother Betty regularly attended “Ladies Day” at Ebbetts Field in the late 1930’s and 40’s, and forever held onto a Ladies Day Bakelite charm that was given to women at the baseball game. Through osmosis i became a fan.

      • In my neighborhood, baseball was the kid sport most played, and I think most of us were either Brooklyn Dodger fans or Yankee fans. When the Mets came into being, it was like, “What’s this…!?”

  5. Because my brother was a NY Giants fan , when they left for San Francisco and the Mets came in, he switched allegiances and has been a die hard Mets fan since
