Chris Christie may have blasted Donald Trump over his Hitleresque blood poisoning comments. but denouncing his vile remarks as a dog whistle is inaccurate.
It’s not just dogs who can hear it. The noxious comments on the campaign trail that sound right out of Mein Kampf are piercing more than German Shepherd’s ears.
These are not high-pitched dog whistles.
Just as an actual dog whistle is heard by canines but imperceptible to the human ear, political dog whistles are understood by one group of voters but missed by everyone else.
His dehumanizing statements are audible and understood by everyone who hears them.
It’s not a wink.
His words are not suggestive. They are not veiled.
You don’t need a secret decoder ring like those toy prizes found in cereal boxes to decipher what he says. The words are plain, simple, and direct.
It’s a foghorn of hate, discernable to anyone within hearing range.
He does not hide his bigotry. He does not hide his hate.
You don’t need to be a bloodhound to sniff out the stench.
Hate is Hate is Hate.

I see “Trump 2024” hats on people I know and I wonder what their values are. Do they understand what this monster believes? More importantly, do they stand behind them! If so, how can I be friends with them? Am I able to accept them as fellow Americans? Do they even understand how far Trump stands outside of the American standards for citizenship? Don’t they find it odd that the son of an immigrant and grandson of another immigrant has such an anti-immigrant stance? (Of course, he mentions only areas where dark-skinned people come from, revealing him to be a racist as well!) How can he swear an oath to protect the Constitution, then say he’d dump it if it worked against his fascist agenda?

It is his followers who are in some ways more disturbing than the sociopath they follow. Hearing his racist, vile comments is disturbing, but hearing the enthusiastic cheers from the audience is so alarming.

I totally agree! “And they live among us….” I live in the Nebraska Panhandle where “they” are two-thirds of the voters.

You have a stronger constitution than I. Though there are red pockets around me, I have little contact with them and live i my own little blue bubble.

I feel battered in a world of ignorance and hate, all with the well-washed faces of “good Christians”.

Though I fear I am singing to the choir.

It’s horrible and frightening, but even if you are singing to the choir, it’s vital for anyone with a public voice to speak out. So thank you for doing that so well.
