Mourning Dolly Parton

I can’t imagine a world without Dolly Parton.

She was the best of us.

The best of America.

Dolly transcended all the divisiveness, politics, and cultural polarization that have deeply fractured us.

Red state or blue state, we were all drawn to her musical brilliance and her generosity that illuminated so brightly. Now a brilliant light has gone out.

We don’t mourn her as a Democrat, or a Progressive, Republican, or MAGA.

Today we are drawn together as Americans as we mourn this American Shero.

And that is her lasting gift to us.

There quite likely will never be anyone quite like her. But let’s hope that she’s inspired many to be as great a human being.

What a sad day. We’ve lost one of the most creative singer/song writers, a truly beautiful, humble and generous humanitarian. She will be greatly missed, but what she created will live on.
