The Queen of talk spoke truth and a captivated world listened…with goosebumps.
Like millions I was mesmerized by Oprah Winfrey’s impassioned words of female empowerment at the 75th Golden Globes as she accepted the 2018 Cecil B. DeMille award for outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.
But her contributions go far beyond that.
Oprah’s Gifts
In her soothing and authoritative voice, Oprah has always told us Our Stories mattered.
It is her greatest gift to us.
And she drove that point home last night. Powerfully. Knocking it right out of the park, her speech was a rallying cry for the voiceless, the marginalized and under appreciated heroes of history who paved the path for her success today.
Her speech was incendiary. It was transformative. It galvanized. It was a call to arms. And dare I say…it was Presidential. At a time when we are so divisive, dispirited, ravenous for leadership and uplifting, a voice rang loud in the wilderness.
#MeToo
Women’s empowerment took center stage at the Golden Globes last evening.
The affair was a blackout as women and men dressed in black to draw attention to the TimesUp campaign. But in that sea of black it was one vibrant woman of color who brought blazing light to the MeToo moment.
“I want all the girls watching here now to know, that a new day is on the horizon,” Oprah exclaimed.
The new day dawning on the horizon which Oprah spoke of in her speech has dawned and has its loudest voice in Oprah Winfrey who so perfectly encapsulated the MeToo movement as few can.
The great Story teller delivered a clarion call to all of to tell our own stories. And they will be heard.
A speech this powerful needs to be listened to – in fact her must-see-speech will make and inspire you to take action.
And I dare you not to get goosebumps.
