We the People did it.
We the People pulled America away from the edge of the precipice it was teetering on.
We the People saved the American Dream for another generation
We saved democracy by acting like Americans.
As other generations fought bloody wars to preserve democracy, so we, embattled yet emboldened, saved our nation from losing our most precious gift. Our freedoms. In record numbers, We the People, Black Americans and Brown Americans, white, young, old, gay, straight, infirm and strong, grabbed our democracy out of the stronghold clutches of Donald Trump who was strangling it nearly choking the life out of it.
Four years of rallies and marches inspired and summoned us translated to record voting at the polls. With voter suppression tactics on the rise, an army of activists mobilized, the charge led by Black women to preserve the integrity of the electoral process. Voting, our most hallowed right as Americans was their call to action. And every action counted.
When the counting was done, we the people truly realized we counted.
We the People in order to form a more perfect union made good on those sacred words.
President-Elect Biden is attending mass as I write, while President Trump is out golfing. No surprises there!

I would expect nothing less of either one.

First time to comment though I’ve been reading you for a long time. It was extremely satisfying that much of the US decided to do the right thing.I

So glad to see you here Beatrice, and thank you for your long-time support. Yes, it was a bit disheartening at first at how many actually did support Trump, but right and truth and goodness prevailed.

I am keenly aware of that and it has been devastating these many years to watch as the rest of the world looked on in horror.

I’m a little bit bummed because every time I see that image of “We the People”, I have to go looking online for the sheet music for the Preamble song from School House Rock. I’ve got that song stuck in my head. And that song’s sheet music isn’t out there. I thought it was a ukulele, but I think it’s mostly banjo. Great, I have a banjo, but no sheet music. I was looking forward to learning this song to play in case I had to go to a protest or something.
Still want to, but it always bums me out.
At least there are a lot more smiles out the past few days, at least, on the t.v.

Have you tried looking on ebay for sheet music?

yeah, nothing published. Even on single sheet download sites. There’s about 10 schoolhouse rock songs in a book for piano, but not that one. There were so many good songs, but that one I really like. I have to try hard NOT to sing it when reminding myself of the preamble to say it to others (hee hee)
