As I walked inside my Town Hall today to cast my vote, the sight of this cast bronze monument that stands outside the stately building surrounded by a sea of waving American flags was particularly poignant bringing a lump to my throat.
The Women’s Veterans Memorial a monument to honor the women of Huntington, NY who served in all the military branches going back to the Revolutionary war seemed a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made to keep our democracy, whose very life balances on the ballot today.
Casting my very blue vote, I felt I honored their commitment. The stakes could not be higher.
We honor our past by voting today.
